Report issues like fly tipping

If you spot fly-tipped waste in Bristol, please report it to Bristol City Council using the FixMyStreet online reporting form.

When reporting, please provide the location of the waste, a description of the items, photographs if it is safe to take them, and any information or evidence you may have about those responsible.

Recycling and safe disposal of waste

There are lots of ways to dispose of waste that are both legal and safe. Used batteries and small electrical items can be safely recycled from the kerbside by placing them inside a separate, clear, untied bag in a black recycling box. Items such as larger electrical appliances, empty gas canisters, wood, mattresses and furniture can be taken to one of Bristol’s three Household Reuse and Recycling Centres (HRRC) which residents can use for free. Residents can also book a bulky waste collection and there are reliable and licensed charities that collect some bulky items for free if they can be reused.

REMEMBER: if you hire someone to take away your waste, you are responsible if it is fly-tipped and you can be fined.

When hiring somebody to dispose of something, you should ask for a waste carrier registration number, check it on the Environment Agency’s public register, and check you’ll get a receipt.
